Churros are a staple of the Spanish and Latin American kitchen, and are thus nothing new. One of my favorite memories from growing up is of going to a section of Caracas, el Hatillo, for a cup of hot chocolate and churros. I would sit in the park with friends and enjoy that snack outside in the spirit of togetherness and enjoyment. On a recent trip to Mexico, my cousin and her boyfriend took me to their "Churro guy", who had the most organized churro cart that I have ever seen. One chocolate-filled churro later made in his little efficient cart of piping bags, dusting pans, and filling nozzles, and I was convinced that I needed to do something churro-esque at the shop. Our churro sundae comes with brown sugar-cinnamon crumbles, to mimic the dusting that the churros get, along with goat milk caramel, chocolate sauce, and 2 of our homemade, gluten free baked churros. Doelicioso!
